Tax Allocation District on former Kmart property gains traction

March 28, 2019

The Rome News-Tribune reports that Rome’s Redevelopment committee has approved the creation of a Tax Allocation District on three parcels at the former Kmart property on Hicks Drive. Wright Ledbetter of Ledbetter Properties said he suspects he can have a full TAD application for the property ready for city officials to begin to consider by the end of the week.

The 15.8 acre Kmart tract at 100 Hicks Drive has been empty for almost two years and has long been regarded as the top spot in Rome for retail development.
