An official groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the Township at Hammond Creek, a new apartment complex under construction located at the North Bypass and Pleasant Grove Drive.
The Township at Hammond Creek is a market-rate, new construction, multifamily development.
The projected was spearheaded by Dalton’s Bryan Hair, who, along with Chuck Dobbins of Dobbins Properties, brought together R.H. Ledbetter Properties, a longtime Dalton investor, to be the lead developer of the project, and Charles Williams Real Estate Investment Corporation, which will provide the onsite leasing and management. Both the Ledbetter and Williams organizations are based in Rome, and Ledbetter helmed the Walnut Avenue shopping center that includes Kroger and TJ Maxx.
The City of Dalton, Whitfield County and Dalton Public Schools helped make the project possible by establishing tax allocation district No. 4 in 2022 that included the new apartment site.
The development will be comprised of 200 one-, two- and three-bedroom units in five four-story buildings with elevator access and a large, open floor plan clubhouse that will include a fully-outfitted fitness center, meeting spaces, and a cyber café. Additional amenities include a resort-style swimming pool, putting green, dog park and pickleball courts.
In 2018, Believe Greater Dalton funded a comprehensive study of the local housing market. The study found that the Dalton areacould support 90-100 new market-rate construction rental units annually for six years.
“We are excited to see the Township at Hammond Creek and the amenities it offers become a reality, and appreciate the investment of the Ledbetter and Williams organizations to help meet the housing demand that exists in our community,” said Allyson Coker, the executive director of Believe Greater Dalton.
